One of the easiest ways to provide ongoing help, hope and access to music therapy for people who need it most is by becoming a Monthly Supporter.

With a small gift on the 15th of each month from your credit card or bank account, you will make a lasting difference in people’s lives. You'll also help us save on administrative costs, allowing the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund to ensure that even more money goes directly to providing music therapy.

A consolidated income tax receipt will be issued at the beginning of the calendar year for all contributions made during the year. At the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund you are always in control of your monthly contributions. You can change or cancel this arrangement at anytime by notifying us. 3. Gifts of Securities

Make a Gift of Securities

Your broker or financial advisor can assist you in making a gift of publicly traded securities through a direct transfer to the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund.

Your gift of securities that has appreciated in value and that you have owned for more than one year may provide you with a greater tax benefit than giving cash. Your charitable income tax deduction is equal to the fair market value of the stock and you also avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in the current value over the original cost of the stock. You will save even more by not incurring brokerage fees because you are transferring ownership rather than selling the stock.

To make a gift of publically traded securities, please contact Elissa Beckett, Director of Funding and Development. The Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund will issue a charitable tax receipt equal to the value of the security at close of the market on the day the gift is transferred to the Trust Fund.  Please note that you will be asked to provide the following information: Donor Name and Address, Donor Contact Information, Name of Donor’s Broker with Contact Information, Name of Security, Number of Shares to be Donated, Date of Transfer.

Thank you for your support.

4. Planned Giving

Make a Gift Through Your Will

One of the most thoughtful and enduring ways you can help the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund is through a planned gift, such as a gift through your will, a life insurance policy gift, or an endowment. By making an informed decision, your planned gift can ensure that people who need it most will have access to music therapy through your gift now and in the future.

When you name the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund in your will, you create a legacy of music that endures.

Each year, the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund receives dozens of requests for music therapy – both at the centre in Toronto and across the country; however, we are presently unable to fund all of them. Your planned gift will enable us to fund more music therapy in Canada, giving people who need it the most the opportunity for a better quality of life.

Bequests can be of any size and may be of cash, securities, real estate or other property.

Contact the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund

6. Corporate and Foundation Giving

How Your Corporation or Foundation Can Help

Music Therapy can empower those with special needs and make a real difference in their lives.

Yet for the many Canadians who could really benefit from music therapy, only a fraction of them have access to it.  There are several reasons for this stemming from the fact that although many physicians would agree that music therapy is an incredibly valuable component to treatment of many patients, health care coverage does not include music therapy.

But the support of Canada's corporate and foundation sectors can ensure that we can close the gap and add music therapy into the basket of therapies for more and more patients each year.

And there are numerous ways you, as a corporate or foundation representative, can make a difference.

The Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund has a number of opportunities for your company or foundation to become involved. Whether it's becoming a sponsor at the Therapy Ride in British Columbia or supporting one of our many individual music therapy projects, we are pleased to work with you to ensure a mutually beneficial relationship.

To date, the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund has been fortunate to have generous corporate and foundation partners. These partners, many from Canada’s incredible music industry, play an important role by sponsoring events, funding individual programs and supporting our goal to ensure that music therapy is available to everyone who needs it.

Thank you for your support.
